1. Services
Ennis M. Salam provides private college admissions essay counsel, application essay review, and related strategic guidance through the services shown on this site, including Free First Read, Essay Diagnostic, Executive Review, Application Counsel, and Season Counsel.
Services are delivered remotely by email, shared documents, phone, video call, or other agreed communication channels. Final scope, timing, and payment must be confirmed in writing before any paid service begins.
2. Academic Integrity
The student must remain the author of all essays and application materials. Counsel may include feedback, structure, strategy, line edits, and revision guidance, but the student is responsible for the substance and truthfulness of the final submission.
- I do not write essays for students.
- I do not create false achievements, activities, or personal experiences.
- I do not submit applications on a student's behalf.
- The student and family are responsible for following each institution's application policies.
3. Client Responsibilities
The client agrees to provide accurate information, original student work, full essay prompts when relevant, and enough time for meaningful review. Missed client deadlines or delayed responses may limit what can be completed before an application deadline.
Rush work may be declined if there is not enough time to do the work responsibly.
4. Payment and Refunds
The Free First Read has no fee and no obligation to continue. Paid services require payment before work begins unless a written invoice or agreement says otherwise.
- Essay Diagnostic: non-refundable once first feedback is delivered.
- Executive Review: 50% refundable if cancelled before first substantive feedback is delivered; non-refundable after that point.
- Application Counsel: refundable only for work not yet begun, as determined by the agreed scope and written record.
- Season Counsel: accepted by application only; deposit, payment schedule, and any unused-service refund terms must be confirmed in writing before work begins.
International payments, wire fees, bank charges, or currency-conversion costs are the client's responsibility unless agreed otherwise.
5. No Admissions Guarantee
No service guarantees admission, scholarship awards, waitlist movement, or any other admissions outcome. Admissions and scholarship decisions are made solely by colleges, universities, scholarship committees, and other third parties.
Past student results or examples do not guarantee future results.
6. Confidentiality and Privacy
Student essays, academic information, family information, application strategy, and communications are treated as confidential. Information will not be sold or shared for marketing without written permission.
Confidentiality does not apply to information already public, information the client authorizes for sharing, anonymized aggregate information, or information required by law.
7. Adult Submitters and Parent Consent
Public inquiry and application forms are intended for parents, guardians, students age 18 or older, and authorized adults or counselors. If the applicant is under 18, the person submitting the form confirms that they are authorized to request information or services on the applicant's behalf.
The site is not intended for children under 13. I may request parent or guardian confirmation before beginning paid work for an applicant under 18.
8. Communication and Deadlines
Email is the primary communication method unless another channel is agreed in writing. Typical response times are 24 to 48 hours on business days. Weekend, holiday, and urgent-deadline responses are not guaranteed unless separately agreed.
Clients should provide at least 14 days before major application deadlines whenever possible.
9. Intellectual Property
The student's essays and application materials remain the student's property. Feedback, frameworks, written guidance, strategy notes, templates, and other materials prepared by Ennis M. Salam remain the consultant's work product and may not be copied, published, or distributed outside the client's household without permission.
10. Termination
Either party may end the working relationship in writing. I may decline or terminate services for non-payment, abusive conduct, requests for unethical work, academic dishonesty, false information, or material breach of these terms.
Confidentiality, payment obligations for completed work, academic integrity obligations, and liability limits survive termination.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, total liability for claims related to a service is limited to the amount paid for that specific service. I am not liable for admissions decisions, scholarship decisions, missed deadlines caused by client delay, technical failures outside my control, or indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.
12. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The parties agree to first try to resolve disputes through good-faith discussion. If that fails, disputes should be submitted to mediation in Austin, Texas before either party pursues other remedies, unless emergency legal relief is required.
13. Electronic Acceptance
Checking the agreement box on a submission form, submitting a request, or proceeding with payment indicates that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
These terms may be updated from time to time. Active clients will be notified if a material update affects an ongoing paid engagement.
